Choosing the right footwear for a beach wedding is not an easy task as most people would think. While walking barefoot on the beach might be ideal for any other day, during your wedding your feet need to be dressed up for the occasion. Just like with a wedding ceremony held in a church or court house, the shoes chosen to accompany the wedding ensemble should be fashionable and comfortable.
Footwear ideas for casual beach weddings
A number of couples choose to have beach weddings, because they tend to be less formal and affordable. Couples who are going for a laid-back casual beach wedding can wear sandals or flip flops during their ceremonies. However, it is recommended that you should go for beaded sandals or ‘dressier’ flip-flops in order to respect the special nature of the day. - Not all beach weddings take place on the sand. If you are having a garden wedding by the beach, brides can wear high heeled shoes and change to flat shoes during the reception on the beach.
- Keep in mind the weather elements; down pours can be experienced, even with beach weddings held during the summer. It gets uncomfortable to walk on wet sand, and for the purpose of moving indoors it would be best to have on a pair of closed shoes. However, shoes with ‘breathing’ spaces are ideal for summer beach weddings.
- Keep in mind the theme of the beach wedding. Men can simply go for black or brown formal shoes or black or white sandals for casual beach weddings.
Regardless of the particular venue where the wedding ceremony will be held, it is important to choose and wear comfortable footwear. With beach weddings held out on the sand there is always the problem of sand getting into the shoes, especially in the case of open shoes.
